“Theatre West’s TOFY Camp: The Stage Awaits Young Performers This Summer!”
Theatre West is excited to announce its summer camp, Theatre Opportunity for Youth (TOFY), for young aspiring actors and actresses aged 8 to 15. Running from July 14-18 and July 21-25, campers will immerse themselves in the world of theatre, culminating in two performances of Disney’s Newsies JR! on July 26 and 27.
Camp Details
- DATES: uly 14-18 and July 21-25
- LOCATION: Judy Chaloupka Theater, WNCC Performing Arts Center
- CAMP FEES: $165 for each camper, $125 for additional family members
- AUDITIONS: Campers may audition for lead roles or choose to participate in a chorus.
- CAMP HOURS: 9:30 AM – 2:00 PM daily
TOFY’s mission is to ignite a passion for theatre arts among youth, providing a nurturing environment where they can explore new characters, develop their voices, and collaborate with peers. During this two-week camp, every participant will play an essential role in a fully choreographed musical, complete with costumes, props, and all production elements. Participants will not only perform but also engage in Theatre Enrichment Activities (TEA) where they will learn fundamental theatre skills and delve into the historical context of the current production.
“Our camp is a wonderful opportunity for kids to step out of their comfort zones, work collaboratively, and express themselves through the arts,” said Kim Grams, Program Director of TOFY. The TOFY camp will kick off at a soon-to-be-announced location for the first week, followed by activities at WNCC’s Judy Chaloupka Theater for the second week. Campers will engage in practices and breakout sessions focusing on various aspects of the production, including choreography and chorus work.
Spaces are limited, and early registration is encouraged. Auditions will be conducted during registration for those interested in more prominent roles, and all campers will be fitted for costumes at that time. TOFY is only possible thanks to the support of dedicated program directors Kim Grams and Mikayla Fulk, Stage Director Staysha Adams, Music Director Javier Jimenez, and the amazing volunteers, including TOFY alumni and enthusiastic high school and college students. Join us for an unforgettable summer filled with creativity, collaboration, and fun in the world of theatre!
